It’s almost Thanksgiving! This has definitely been a long year for a lot of us. Many people are looking forward to relaxing with our loved ones over a delicious holiday meal. If you have a kitty, your furry little friend will likely want to lend a helping paw as you get ready for the autumn holiday. A Greater Cincinnati offers a few tips on spending Thanksgiving with Fluffy below.
Food is of course front and center for many holiday traditions. Your furry pal definitely deserves something special. Fluffy can enjoy some plain, cooked meat, fish, or poultry. Be sure to remove the skin, bones, and fat. Your furball may also enjoy a bit of deli meat, or perhaps that kitty classic treat of canned tuna. Store-bought cat treats are fine as well. Just don’t give your pet anything that could be unsafe. This includes things like garlic, onions, scallions, and chives; meat on the bone; dairy products; and alcohol. Ask your vet for more information.
Our feline friends are very unique, and they definitely all have their own ‘purrsonalities.’ Some of them will see guests as extra laps to curl up in. Others are very shy, and may spend the day hiding. If your furry pal is a scaredy-cat, give her a quiet spot where she can just nap peacefully without being disturbed. Make sure she has all the kitty necessities, such as food, water, bedding, a litterbox, and a couple of toys. Chances are, your timid furball will be purrfectly content to sleep through the festivities.
Kitties are very playful. This is of course one of the many things we love about them. Fluffy is adorable when she’s zooming around or attacking that catnip mouse! However, that mischievous streak can get your furball into trouble. Keep anything that could potentially endanger your pet out of paws’ reach. This entails things like small or sharp objects; many decorative items, such as cornucopias and garlands; candles and potpourri burners; and anything with ropes or threads.
Kitties are definitely something to be thankful for. At the end of the day, just relax with your feline pal. Leftovers, a purring cat, and a great book or movie all make for a wonderful end to a special day!
